Darth Nihilus Mask

This sale offers three options for purchasing a Darth Nihilus mask. The mask is cast in fiberglass, so it is very durable.

Shipping Time:
Every mask is made to order, and will be cast, finished, and shipped as quickly as possible. During slow periods I may be able to ship within 2 weeks, while during busy periods when I get a lot of orders it may take 6 to 8 weeks. The casting and shipping time will always be the longest during my annual sale in September when things get very busy. Please be patient, and know that I'm always casting and shipping as fast as I can!

MASK OPTIONS:

Untrimmed Mask - $60

An untrimmed mask is a raw casting taken directly from the mold. It will have rough edges of fiberglass which you will need to remove. I prefer to use a mouse sander for trimming down the larger areas, and a dremel with a sanding wheel for the tighter spots. The dremel also works well to knock down any lumps or rough edges of fiberglass which may be sticking up in the back. Be sure to wear a respirator, gloves, and protective clothing while sanding the mask, because fiberglass dust is very irritating to the skin and very unsafe to breathe. New castings may have occasional air bubbles that may need to be filled, and the edges will need to be sanded. For the final round of sanding, I prefer to use a 400 grit wet sandpaper under slowly running water to finish the mask edges. Trimmed Mask - $85

A trimmed mask is a casting that no longer has raw edges. The extra fiberglass has been trimmed away and the edges have been sanded. To paint the mask, you should first fill in any air bubbles with putty, sand those places smooth, and then give the mask a coat of primer. Once that is dry, check over the mask to see if there are any spots that need a touch more filling or sanding. (Little imperfections that were invisible before often show up with the first coat of primer.) If there are any spots, touch them up. Rinse the mask to remove any dust, allow it to dry thoroughly, and then give the mask another light coat of primer. After that, it should be ready for a coat of paint. I have found that a slight off-white tends to look much better than a pure white paint. Satin or matte paint looks best, though a glossy paint can be used if you hit it with a coat of matte or satin clear coat afterwards.

Painted Mask - $100

A painted mask has been trimmed, sanded, and painted. It's ready to be added to your costume!

Hood:

We also offer a vacuformed styrene hood that goes with this mask. The hood helps simulate the unique shape of Nihilus' head. If you wish to order both, I can combine shipping.

Photographs:
The photos shown in this sale are not the same mask which is for sale. They are examples, used so that I won't have to take pictures of the same thing over and over again! The masks I ship will be cast from the same mold, and will look identical save for any natural variations in the castings, sanding, and paint.
