Partial Eleena Daru Costume

Regular price $140.00 $0.00

I am in the process of clearing out my costumes that I know I won't be wearing again. (I'm 53 and fluffy now... there's no way I'm going to fit into these outfits anymore! :-D) There's no point in leaving them sitting in my costume tubs when someone out there might enjoy wearing them!

---------------------------------

Eleena Daru

I am 5'7" and I weighed around 150 pounds when I made this costume.  It was worn one time at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando.

Costume includes:

- Leather belt with attached belt boxes and detonators. I spent quite a lot of time and expense making this belt, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out!  (Note that two of the boxes were slightly damaged and will need a paint touchup on their top edge. Something was sitting on them in my storage tub and stuck to the paint when everything was taken out of the box.)

- Jumpsuit. This blue fabric turned out to be prone to snagging and pilling, so you may not want to use it. If not, it can serve as a pattern/guide to help you make your own jumpsuit, and you can remove the leather pouches for continued use. It also has slits cut in the side for the armor straps to fit inside the jumpsuit. The leather pouches were wet shaped over wooden forms that were carved to match the shape of the pouches in the reference pictures. (To put everything on, I put on the jumpsuit, then attached the back armor. A strap from the back armor went through the side slits so they were under the jumpsuit and I closed them in the front. Then I zipped up the jumpsuit and attached the front armor to hide the zipper. The hidden straps from the back armor really helped support the weight and kept it snugly in place.)

- Leather gloves. These gloves were modified to have the notch, strap, and leather pouch seen in the reference images.

- Latex armor. Latex has a limited lifetime and these armor pieces are definitely looking their age. You may want to give them a try, or you can use them as a fitting guide as you make your own armor. I felt that I didn't make the stomach armor wide enough and would recommend making that a bit wider.

- Boot pieces. I purchased a pair of Clarks 8.5 shoes that best matched the sole/heel and toe shape of the reference images, and then I created boot uppers by making a fabric pattern and then sewing them in black leather. I used brown leather and cast hot glue designs for the decorative elements on the boots. I ran into one problem while wearing them: I used invisible zippers on the back of the boots, and when I tried to take them off at the end of the day, both of the zippers refused to open. I ended up having to break the zippers to pull off the boots! I decided to remake the boots for a better fit and use stronger zippers, so I took them apart when I got home from the convention.... but I never got around to remaking them, so you will get the boot components and my pattern. You're welcome to give rebuilding them a try, or you can attach the brown leather parts over a store-bought pair of black boots if you don't want to torture yourself like I did! I do recommend sticking with a back zipper because the brown leather on top makes a side zipper more difficult to manage.

*** LEKKU, HEAD WRAP, UPPER BACK ARMOR, AND EAR CONES ARE NOT INCLUDED*****

(That was a latex lekku headpiece and I don't have it anymore, sorry! I was so busy making lekku for customers that I ran out of time and never had a chance to make the upper back armor piece or a proper forehead wrap. It was just scrap leather and some pieces of craft foam that didn't survive for long.)
