Dance Outfit Costume

I am in the process of clearing out my costumes that I know I won't be wearing again. (I'm 52 and fluffy now... there's no way I'm going to fit into these outfits anymore! :-D) There's no point in leaving them sitting in my costume tubs when someone out there might enjoy wearing them!

This was a simple costume that I put together with a top and pants that I purchased from a dance supply store. I don't wear store bought costumes very often, but I really enjoyed the simplicity of this one! I wore gold sandals with it, and it was really funny to hear how many people commented on my blue toes!  I used Reel Creations paint - it looks perfect all day and doesn't stain the fabric.

I am 5'7" and was 135 pounds when I wore this costume.

Costume includes:

- Black pants are Balera brand sized... MA?? (I wore flesh-toned Spanx shorts under it, and noticed that when flash photography was used you could see a reflective shine from the shorts showing through the black fabric. I would recommend black undies!)

- Body Wrappers top size L

- Belt is a piece of gold trim with velcro in the back to close it.

- Head wrap with gold thread design sewn on edges. This is two pieces: a solid part that holds the ear cones and goes around the back of the head, and a wrap that goes over the top and closes in the back with velcro. (If the fabric is a bit too stretchy to hold the lekku in place securely, a piece of wide black elastic can be worn under the forehead wrap. Put a snap or velcro on the ends of the elastic to hold it closed, and it should do a good job!)

- I'm not sure if I still have the socks that I used on the lekku. If I can find them, I will include them. (If I can't, it's just decorative trouser socks that I purchased at Target and cut off the toes!)
